DUPLEX: Introduction

DUPLEX COATING

Sherardizing as a standalone system is a long lasting and cost efficient method of providing corrosion protection. The application of additional coatings produces a protective system with enhanced protection and performance. The resulting system may sometimes be known as a duplex system.

SHERARDIZED / FLUOROPOLYMER DUPLEX SYSTEM – SHERARDIZE FP50®

Fluoropolymer coatings are a blend of high performance resins and lubricants which provide excellent corrosion and chemical resistance, reduced friction, electrical resistance and abrasion resistance.

SHERARDIZED/ORGANIC SEALANT DUPLEX SYSTEM – SHERARDIZE ZS35®

The addition of a zinc or aluminium top coat provides greatly improved resistance to atmospheric corrosion, due to the sacrificial and barrier roles of the sealant. Internal lubricants are available to adjust torque/tension requirements.

SHERARDIZED/MOLYBDENUM DISULPHIDE DUPLEX SYSTEM – SHERARDIZE MD40®

Molybdenum Disulphide coatings are commonly used in applications where load carrying capacity, operating temperature and coefficient of friction are primary concerns. Moly coatings lubricate sacrificially by transferring lubricant between the two surfaces, helping to reduce wear and friction.

SHERARDIZED/PHOSPHATE/OIL DUPLEX SYSTEM

Phosphate and oil coatings are often used to enhance corrosion protection, lubricity and to help prevent galling (surface damage)

Phosphate alone serves as a conversion coating, providing a key for subsequent coatings.
